It's just that I have a six year warranty I'd like to keep, too!

I liked their N1 on my FR-S a bit to loud for a catback, but it seemed like a solid exhaust. The Q300 is quieter and a better exhaust system. What I would like to say next is very important, they can't void your warranty because you get an exhaust. If a fuel injector fails, they can't blame the exhaust for it(or it will be really hard for them to prove it). Now if your bumper melts off then they might have an excuse.

Yeah, I was looking at both. My WRX is my commuting companion. The N1 just isn't suited for DD duties. It's much too loud.
I want something loud enough that I can let it scream in the Los Angeles canyons on weekends, but not so loud that it gets obnoxious sitting in 5 o'clock rush hour traffic.
And I'm going to make a call to my dealer and see what's up. Everyone's been telling me that it won't void my warranty.

It shouldn't void the warranty. Only a part that causes direct malfunction voids the warranty. If you get a chip and the mixture leans out and you wind up with a broken rod or melted piston then the warranty is voided. All an exhaust can do is take weight off and open up the flow of gasses out of the motor. You'll be fine.

The Q300 is probably the way to go. Just make sure there is a good resonator somewhere in the system, that is what helps with keeping it quiet when it is not WOT. Nothing can cancel your warranty, unless that part cause a failure of a the part you want to replace. So if a body panel is lose they can't deny you a warranty claim, that is against the law!!Although a tune, that is a good way to ruin your warranty on an engine(if they find out that is). That is why I am so hesitant to get one.

The Q300 is a better exhaust system? In what respect? The N1 flows better.

The N1 is really loud for a DD. Might be great for flow, but not so great for keeping away drone.

If you have a WRX/STI and use a Cobb AP Subaru cannot tell if the car has had a tune or not. What they can tell is how many key turns there have been since the ECU has been reset. Go to the dealership with a broken ringland and 3 key turns, they can usually put two and two together.
With a BRZ/FR-S you are SOL though since Cobb doesn't support that platform. No point in tuning a N/A one anyway.

ECU tune on a FR-S you gain about 10 to 15 hp with full exhaust and intake. So basically the exhaust will give you 20hp and this will give you additional 10 or so but for 800 bucks.
From my understanding we do not have anything like that. There is ECUtek which allows you to reflash to stock at will, but that requires the license to the tune to be on the cars ECU, so if the dealer really wanted to screw you over, they can find it. It might be a bit difficult though.

10-15hp with I/T/E is nothing, not to mention no one has been able to fix the torque curve dip. If you want power in the 86 there is no other option but FI.
Also ECUtek is garbage along with the people that designed it. Stay far away from it.

Well it isn't 10 or 15 hp it is more like 30 to 35. I mean it is a NA 2L so you can't expect massive gains, plus 30 hp in this car really does make it feel fairly fast.
The only real way to get rid of the torque curve is too get UEL headers and a good tune. It completely get rid of it!
I am new to this whole tuning thing so I am being very cautious when it comes to buying anything. So what tunes are better than others are unknown to me.

30-35hp? I don't believe that. Dyno charts?

Welp, the tablet business did not work out. I guess it's time to move into car exhausts!

The consensus is right. It is nearly impossible for an aftermarket exhaust to voide warranty, unless the issue comes from lack of heat shielding (e.g. melted fascias). The only risks you run have to do with emissions inspections (if your state has them) and noise levels (if your municipality has them). One of the big reasons that OEM exhausts suck is because they are overbuilt for noise and pollutant scrubbing, to ensure 50-state compliance. Just be sure that cats on your new exhaust will keep you compliant with your state's emissions standards, and you should be golden.
